For more than 20 years, Julie has worked at the intersection of politics and policy. She is a problem solver with an insider’s knowledge of policymaking that comes from extensive experience in all three branches of the federal government as well as influential non-profits.
Julie helped to launch and grow the Bipartisan Policy Center, a premier DC think tank. Serving as COO and Senior Vice President, she oversaw operations of the $20m, 100-person non-profit, managing Board governance, successfully securing financial support, and providing strategic oversight of finance and budget. She developed and executed outreach, advocacy, and communications strategies in energy/climate change as well as a suite of issues critical to working families such as paid leave and housing.
Prior to the BPC, Julie was manager of the Climate Change Campaign for the Union of Concerned Scientists, where she led a variety of coalition efforts including the enactment of the 2005 Diesel Emissions Reduction Act.
Julie served in the White House handling energy, environment, and climate legislative issues for President Clinton and held several roles at the Environmental Protection Agency including acting associate administrator for congressional and legislative affairs where she worked on the reauthorization of the Safe Drinking Water Act and promulgation of 1997 smog and soot rules.
Julie is an environmental lawyer who practiced with Chadbourne & Parke and clerked for a Federal District Court Judge in the Northern District of Texas. Rounding out her tour of all three branches of the federal government, Julie began her career as a legislative assistant for several members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
With over 30 years of experience in association management, specializing in conventions, membership, and non-dues revenue programs, Chris’s expertise lies in leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives and drive revenue growth.
Chris most recently served as Senior Vice President - Events, with the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), overseeing the management of domestic and international conventions and conferences. NBAA’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (BACE) is annually ranked in Trade Show Executive’s Gold Top 10 events. While with NBAA, Chris has also led large events in Europe and Asia as well as 8-10 domestic conferences and forums annually. These events generated $40MM in total annual revenues for NBAA.
Additionally during his tenure Chris successfully managed the membership team, creating initiatives such as the NBAA Leadership Council membership level and Voluntary Assessment Program. Chris and his team were also part of a successful rebrand and developed the Association's Customer Service Program.
Prior to NBAA, Chris worked at the executive level with both the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA). In each role he was responsible for membership, events and non-dues revenue programs.
Chris’s educational background includes a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Baltimore and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Additional industry involvement includes graduating from the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organizational Management, contributing as a member of the Editorial Board for Trade Show Executive and working as a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
